Technical Details

Printing a Page
To print any of the pages of the website you will have to use the print function of your browser. Most browsers automatically adjust the size of the content to the dimensions of the paper. For long pages (such as this one) it may be a good idea to reduce the type font size in the browser’s settings in order to fit everything on one printed page.
JavaScript
The website does not use JavaScript or any other dynamic programming techniques such as Active-X or Flash.
Ergonomics
When developing the website we have tried to improve its usability by concentrating on the scalability of the type fonts. The size of all fonts can be modified to increase legibility. To do this, you will have to use the browser setting which changes font size.
Web without a Mouse
The website can be navigated without a mouse using the keyboard. For this, you can use the tabulator key to skip from one link to the next. Pressing the Enter key will link to the desired page. So-called hotkeys — key combinations which automatically jump to a marked link on the page — are described elsewhere (for visual surfers, this is the adjacent white box).
Accessibility
The pages on this website are designed to be accessible to people with visual handicaps, who use an audio browser which reads the web page aloud. A special link “Skip navigation” at the beginning of each page allows them to skip over the navigation menu, which is similar on every page and would otherwise make for a repetitive experience.
The intention of making the Web accessible to all people, irrespective of any physical or visual disabilities they may have, is promoted by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Web Standards
In order to keep the website simple and uncluttered, we purposefully avoided active content. You will not find second and third browser windows suddenly popping open unannounced and access times should be fast because we do not rely on extravagant graphic effects.
Every page uses Cascading Style Sheets, Level 2 (CCS2) and has been checked syntactically by the validator programs of the World Wide Web Consortium. In addition, the website as a whole has been tested against the checklist of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) of the Web Accessibility Initiative, with the intention of verifying the general accessibility of the website to people with disabilities:

Hotkeys

Do you notice that individual letters in the navigation menu are underlined? This shows that accesskeys are activated.

Keep the ALT-key pressed (on a PC) or the Ctl-key (Mac), and type the marked letter on the keyboard.

The focus jumps to the desired position — completely without mouse.

(If you did not know that you can surf the internet without a mouse read further on this page under Accessibility.)

Have you found the two hidden hotkeys?
